Sania Mirza Smashes The Show at WIFW

Designer Ritu Pande, the connoisseur of fabric and fantasy launched an alluring collection, “LADY IN LACE” at the WILLS LIFESTYLE INDIA FASHION WEEK on 10th October 2014.

And guess what! Tennis sensation Sania Mirza captured the hearts of many with her smashing presence on the ramp in a stunning new avatar. Sania Mirza looked gorgeous as the showstopper, wearing a pure crepe, long and flowy anaarkali embroidered with French gold lace.

Ritu Pande’s latest collection is inspired by the layered nuances and hidden beauty of quintessential Victoriana. The delicacy and gravity of French and Italian laces witnessed a mixed play of layering, patchwork and embroidery. The designer brought alive her unique individual interpretation of drapes to create a nuanced collection of subversive romance. Urban tones like icy whites to sparkling gold and fresh coral to midnight blue epitomized the story of the ‘Lady in Lace’ who is subtly subversive!

“Ritu’s work is very different from her contemporaries. It is classy, elegant and you can see a lot of finesse. I especially loved the outfit she designed for me”, says Sania Mirza.

Since she has conquered the sports and fashion arena, we wondered if Sania had any future places for Bollywood. But the champ simply laughed and said:

“As they say never say never. Bollywood is not my cup of tea and I’m extremely camera shy. But then, I do love watching Bollywood films.”

The runway has witnessed many collections of the designer. This was Ritu’s 7th season at Wills, India’s premier fashion platform. Her enthralling, crisp new appeal has been creating a buzz in the fashion world.
