“Pyar, Mohabbat, Aashiqui… Sirf lafzon ke siva aur kuch nahi! Par jab woh mili, in lafzon ko maayine mil gaye..” – Rahul
Intriguing faces. Forgotten names. Romantic dreams. Maddening love. My weakness for anything romantic continues. This time, what caught my eyes was Mahesh Bhatt’s imminent conception – Aashiqui 2. Mohit Suri is all set to revive the all-time romantic hit of the 90s, “Aashiqui”. The film stars Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor – both seem impressive and I am looking forward to this!
Ok, I must confess when I first heard that Mahesh Bhatt is going to remake one of his all-time romantic hits which originally starred Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal, I was kind of like “WHY remake a classic”?! Then, he began conducting YouTube auditions for the lead male and female actors. And after a while, everybody just lost interest about the film. But wow – little did I know that I would be pleasantly surprised upon randomly clicking on the Aashiqui 2 trailer yesterday. Got completely blown away!
Don’t believe me? Check it out for yourself :
The original Aashiqui was famous for its soundtrack (read: Saanson Ki Zaroorat, Dheere Dheere). So, I am pretty sure that there was huge pressure on the makers to ensure that this album matches up. And I personally think that they have done an amazing job at it. Listen to “Tum hi ho” below and you will instantly understand what I mean. It’s soulful and very romantic. Interestingly, Aashiqui 2 will have 10 original compositions and the makers have retained “Saanson Ki Zaroorat”, from the first film.
As I said earlier, the title track “Tum Hi Ho” is my current obsession at the moment! Mithoon has given the music for the album but do you know who is the voice behind this melodious song? Arijit Singh, who started off as a singing reality show contestant (Fame Gurukul) and who previously sang songs like “Raabta” (Agent Vinod), “Phir Le Aaya Dil” (Barfi!), proves his versatility yet again with “Tum Hi Ho”.
Shraddha Kapur and Aditya Roy Kapoor are slowly, but surely making their presence felt in the industry. But what I liked most about the trailer was the fact that Mohit Suri and Mahesh Bhatt kept the iconic Aashiqui cover of the lead pair romantically buried in love under a jacket!
